The Heralds of Silence: Crusade Battle 5

Disaster at 81320.183 “Form a skirmish line!”  Khotec the Cruel ordered.  “Third Cohort hold the right flank.  Fifth Cohort, you will be our center.  Khophec, take your guards and see if you can flank around the buildings to our left.” Khotec was furious.  The intelligence he had received about this site was completely and utterly wrong.  He had been told by Joint Command that the site was an abandoned Adeptus Mechanicus research facility.  No one had bothered to mention the house of Imperial Knights that had converted it into a forward operating base. “Someone will pay for this.” Khotec growled. “My Lord!  The Knights quick reaction force approaches! They…”  The rest of Khophec communication was drowned out by the roar of battle cannon and melta fire tearing into the Legion forces.   A Knight Crusader and two Armiger Warglaives were sprinting towards the Legion battle line spiting death from their heavy weapons.  The War...

The Heralds of Silence: Crusade Battle Four

Surgical Assault: The Battle for 8820.63 The ground shook with the echos of artillery shelling.  Bolter and Gauss fire are exchanged half a unit to east of Khotec the Cruel’s command post.  The forces of Chaos have arrived in search of the planets Noctolith stock pile. Illuminor Szeras had placed caches on this world in preparation of building another pillar to extend the Pariah Nexus. Khotec was unimpressed with the assault so far. The Third, Seventh and Fourteenth legions had stalled the Chaos Space Marines initial assault. Khotec’s First Legion as well as Ninth and Tenth Legions were moving into position to counter attack.  Khotec growled in impatience as he watched Warriors from Third Legion gun down a company of Chaos Cultists. He was about to order his legion to link up with Third Legion when he received a communications protocol. “Thotep! Khophec! Attend me!” He ordered. His court joined him at his command console. “We have received data from joint command....

The Heralds of Silence: Crusade Battles 2 & 3

The Raid of Planet 8420.7 Overlord Khotec quickly scanned the terrain in front of him.  His Legion had found Imperial forces on the planet designated as 8420.7 and they seemed to be using the northern continent as a staging point.  There was a supply point in an old burnt out city on the edge of the eastern part of the continent where Khotec decided to blood his newly designated Second Cohort.  This system was on the edges of his legions operations area so he had only brought a small raiding force of two units of Skorpekh Destroyers with their attached Plasmacytes as well as a Canoptek Re-animator to assist with any casualties. Khotec split his forces into two groups as they approached the target area creating a rough skirmish line in the city ruins.  A shrieking whine followed by a ground shaking explosion rocked the area as two missiles slammed into the Re-animator causing Khotec to curse. Scrap metal from the destroyed machine bounced down around him as Khot...

The Heralds of Silence: Crusade Battle 1

As Khotec the Cruel finished materializing on the world designated as 72720.0 he looked around in disgust.  There was no space marine base in sight. “Those Sautekh fools had bad intelligence my Lord.” Thotep the Unstoppable growls. “True, but this may not be a total waste.  Our scouts have found something interesting a few units away.  I believe it may be an artifact from before the Great Slumber and may be of use to my Lord.”  Khophec the Star Killer says. “There had better be something of use, that Sautekh lord’s useless existence depends on it for wasting my time.  Thotep, move our troops into defensive positions around the location.” Khotec orders. In short order the First, Third and Fifth Cohorts were in defensive positions as Khotec and his court examined the site. Khopech points. “Here my Lord!  If you interface with this terminal and input your command codes it will allow access to the chamber below that contains the item.”  Khotec moves into p...

Khotek’s initial order of battle consists of his court, a Canoptek Reanimator, Khophec’s bodyguard Cryptothralls, Immortals of the 1st Cohort and Warriors of the 3rd and 5th Cohorts of the 17th legion.  He sets off to engage the lead space marine elements garrisoning a staging point for Imperial forces headed into the Pariah Nexus.
