This Orktober we will be hosting an event which we are calling...
BLACKSTAR DOWN - the Battle of Orkadishu.
Orks have shot down several Deathwatch Blackstars and they have crashed into the urban sprawl of Orkadishu. Trapped, the forces of the Imperium are mounting a rescue operation into the city. To further complicate the situation various kill teams from other factions are also trying to recover the beleaguered Deathwatch.
Set Up:
Tables should have large amounts of urban terrain making numerous alleys and streets if possible. Pairs of Deathwatch marines are placed in surrounded positions across however many tables are in use. Ork Players will deploy first anywhere on the table at least 18" from a Deathwatch team. Imperial and Other faction kill teams will deploy within 6" of any table edge.
Battle Rounds:
The Battle Rounds will be broken up into Imperial, Ork and Other faction turns.
Players:
400 pts - May bring one walker unit and the rest must be infantry.
Player Objectives:
Imperium players are trying to rescue as many Deathwatch units as possible.
Ork players are trying to slay as many Deathwatch units as possible.
All other factions are trying to capture as many Deathwatch units as possible
Rescuing a member of the Deathwatch:
When a friendly unit is within engagement range of a Deathwatch member, the Deathwatch model attaches to the friendly unit. It then activates when that unit activates, and loses its special rule. You may attach as many members of the Deathwatch to a unit as you wish. A unit with a Deathwatch model attached that leaves the boards successfully rescues that model.
Capturing a member of the Deathwatch:
When an enemy kill team wishes to capture a Deathwatch Member the kill team must defeat the Deathwatch member in melee and reduce it to 0 wounds. The Deathwatch unit is then treated as an objective token. If the capturing kill team is eliminated the Deathwatch unit is placed back on the board at 1 wound. A Unit may capture as many Deathwatch units as it wishes. A unit with a captured Deathwatch model that leaves the boards successfully rescues that model.
Killing a member of the Deathwatch:
All Ork units are attempting to kill the Deathwatch units. Combat is completed as normal and if they reduce a Deathwatch unit to 0 wounds it is removed from play for the rest of the event.
Additional Notes:
You may attack another players models.
In the close combat phase only the active player may attack.
Command points and strategems will not be used for this event. Any abilities on a units datasheet maybe used.
Crashed Deathwatch Marines:
Please see the custom datasheet for how Deathwatch Marines work for the event. Keep in mind that its special rule occurs when any hostile unit ends its move within 12" and can occur multiple times in a phase but only once per enemy unit.
