Assassination: an Alpha Strike Scenario

Premise: An Attacking force has located the enemy command post with their recon units. A fast moving strike force has been dispatched to assassinate them.

Table Set up: The table should be set up with a number of LOS blocking terrain of whatever type fits the narrative

Players designate their table edges using the short ends.

Forces:  Should be roughly equal in points value +/-5.  The attacking force may not field any units that move 6” or slower as they would not arrive in time.

Bonus units:

Attacker: The attacker may deploy 50 points of infantry/battle armor/light mechs anywhere on the table that is not within 25” of the target as hidden units. They represent the recon team that located the target.

Defender:  The defender receives one size 4 mech with a skill level of 2 for free to represent the force commander/assassination target.  This model is placed a the center of the table.

Deployment:

Defender:  The defender should split their force into lance/star/lv2.  Divide the table into 4 quadrants and then label them 1,2,3,4.  Roll a d6 per unit and deploy the unit on the appropriate quadrant bu not within 20” of the target.  On a 5 or 6 the defender may place the unit in any quadrant and within 20” of the target.

(the narrative reason is that the units are patrolling around the command post as they have not spotted the incoming assassins.)

Attacker:  The attacker moves onto the table from their table edge during the first round.

Special Rules:  The target may start to escape the table after it has sustained 5 damage.

Victory Conditions:

Attacker:

Major Victory: The target is destroyed with less that 25% casualties on the attacker side

Minor Victory: The target is destroyed with less than 66% casualties to the attacker

Defender:

Major Victory: The target survives and the enemy is annihilated.

Minor Victory: The target withdraws from the table from the defenders table edge.
