Painting Update 10/2/17

Been awhile since the last update.  A painting progress update seemed appropriate.  I've been bouncing between Warmachine and Frostgrave a good bit lately.  We'll pick up where we left off on the Trollkin.

Diretroll Bomber for some ranged AOE.


Earthborn Diretroll, works great as an initial engagement piece.

Stonescribe Chronicler for some infantry support.

Wrong Eye and Snapjaw for more star crossed.

Lylyth 1, finally finished this model which I'll never use, but hey its painted!

I originally bought this model to play a black clad for IKRPG, but he got knocked out as I need a golem for Frostgrave.

Wraith Engine, this guy became really good with a recent update.  So far he's earned his points in every game I've used him in.

Erebus, for whenever I finally finish Scaverous, who likes to break on me.

A desecrator for use in my bane lists.
Pair of nightwretches. These guys have quickly made their way into a number of lists.

Helldiver, Never going to be used, but he's off the painting table.

A Seether, schools still out on this guy.

Goreshade3, A fun but not top tier caster for me.


Daragh Wrath, another model that was sitting around half painted for over a year.

Denny2, Not sure when I'll use this lady, but the model is fantastic.

Goreshade1, haven't tried him yet, but he looks fun.

Stryker1, testing out a scheme for my eventual Cygnar army.

Haley1, more testing, pretty happy with the scheme.



Another game I've been having a great time with is Frostgrave.  One of its main appeals is you can use miniatures from whatever line strikes your fancy.  I tend to be a bit all over the place so the scale tends to fluctuate a good bit, but I really enjoy being able to branch out to other model lines.

Journeyman Jan. 2017

In an effort to bring in newer players I helped convince our local press ganger we should start off 2017 with a new journeyman league.  I thought it would it would give an opportunity to players who had purchased or received battle boxes over Christmas a chance to hop into our local meta.  Most of the local guys are starting with just new casters and playing the battle box with factions they already have but I decided to knock out the Skorne I had gotten with the two player Hordes box I had purchased to start my Trollbloods. I’m having no trouble painting the Trollbloods but I was afraid that the Skorne would sit on the shelf much like my circle has.  With this league I can knock them out and have a 75 point list completed and then happily move onto the Trolls. Why two Hordes factions all of a sudden?  Honestly I’ve been a bit frustrated with Cryx in its current incarnation and have been a bit overly affected by the Privateer Press forums doom and gloom.  I ...

Lantern Years 7 & 8

The people of New Tica Town sent Sherlock, Speedy, Maize and McGhee off to discover the source of the strange feather that had floated into their settlement.  The hunters dealt with a few minor hazards as well as a strange shift in their reality. To their shock they realized they had forgotten their names. The hunting party renamed themselves, Slowy, Pumpkin, TriPod and Motorboat. Eventually they discovered a huge winged monster in a strange tree. The strange Phoenix warped reality around it and swooped in to attack the intruders.  The party fought desperately trying to deal with the time dilation the creature caused and the stresses it placed on their minds.  Pumpkin fell during the fight, leaking blood from his eyes,ears, nose and mouth.Tripod lost her name, she became a girl with no name.  The creature was eventually slain but it caused a heavy toll on the party.  Motorboat’s future was shredded, causing infertility.
