Painting Update 10/2/17

Been awhile since the last update.  A painting progress update seemed appropriate.  I've been bouncing between Warmachine and Frostgrave a good bit lately.  We'll pick up where we left off on the Trollkin. A second Trollkin Champion units. Diretroll Bomber for some ranged AOE. Earthborn Diretroll, works great as an initial engagement piece. Stonescribe Chronicler for some infantry support. Wrong Eye and Snapjaw for more star crossed. Lylyth 1, finally finished this model which I'll never use, but hey its painted! I originally bought this model to play a black clad for IKRPG, but he got knocked out as I need a golem for Frostgrave. Wraith Engine, this guy became really good with a recent update.  So far he's earned his points in every game I've used him in. Erebus, for whenever I finally finish Scaverous, who likes to break on me. A desecrator for use in my bane lists. Pair of nightwretches. These guys h

March of the Kriels!

This last Thursday, I helped kick off our Warmachine/Hordes narrative campaign out at Drawbridge Games.  Since attendance had been dropping on Warmachine night, my friend Andrew thought it would be a great idea to get a summer narrative campaign going. After tossing around some ideas, the story of the United Kriels relocating to the continent of Alchiere was chosen. We kicked the campaign off with an Iron Kingdoms RPG mission which set the scene. We had a pretty good turn out as we had double the players of what we’d had in recent weeks.  A narrative campaign was also an excuse to get the Trollblood models I’ve had sitting around done.  I’m slowly building up a Calandra list featuring two units of Champions and a number of warbeasts. Why Calandra?  Dice fixing.  My dice kill me more than not and a warlock which gives me a whole bunch of re-rolls sounds delicious. On to a painting update! Need a rush? Grab an Axer. The ubiquitous Bouncer. A nice caster defense pack

Future Cleveland House Rules

Edit: After some discussion, it was determined that most of the players weren't interested in that much score keeping.  A more laid back experience was preferred.  Instead I'll be keeping track of teams that reach 15 promethium that retire. They will then be immortalized here on the blog as part of the "Future Cleveland Hall of Fame" The following House Rules are in effect for the Future Cleveland League. Campaign Scoring: The League is running an extended format.  The league will end when a participate has earned 15 team points.  Team points are earned when a team reaches 15 promethium and is then retired.  The player will then create a new team of their choice to continue the campaign. Players are not required to keep the same faction throughout the campaign.

Future Cleveland Day!

We had our inaugural game day on Future Cleveland this past Saturday.  There is still more work to be done on the board, but it can only grow more impressive.  We also started up our own Future Cleveland Shadow War: Armageddon league. We managed to get in three multiplayer games and had a blast!  The current league standings are below.  Ironically, Kevin, who only played one game is in the lead! Future Cleveland, it's better than Future Detroit

With the release of Shadow War: Armageddon, I’ve found myself diving head first into the Warhammer 40k universe.  Combined with the soon to be released 8th edition of 40k and a frustration with flat boards for SW:A at our local store I decided to attempt my first custom game board. It was decided the boards would be dubbed “Future Cleveland” after watching some humorous joke tourism videos about Cleveland.  Here's a link to the name's inspiration.   Post apocalyptic industrial areas tend to have things in common after all.  In regards to construction, the boards were made with pink insulation foam glued down to 2x4ft mdf boards.  I made sure to include several level changes to help break up lines of sight. I’ve been generally pleased with how the boards have come out, but the perfectionist in me sees room for vast improvement.   I’ll post future updates with the progress of the board.
