Deneghra the Soul Weaver

So I recently finished up my Denny3 and played 3.5 games with her.  The .5 game comes from playing a 9-10 year old young man in a teaching game with his Dad helping him. In regards to the three that counted, it was a bit interesting yet mildly frustrating. The first two games I played a more theory machine list with a heavy soul gathering approach. List for Games 1 & 2 Denny3 Deathripper Deathripper Slayer Slayer Inflictor Withershadow Combine Satyxis Raiders + UA Soulhunters Pistol Wraith Pistol Wraith Soul Trappers Scenario for games 1 & 2 was Steam Roller 2016 The Pit Quick Recap: Game1 (though Andrew posted on his blog that this was game 2)  Vs Feora 2. This went poorly in general.  Once the gap was closed between the too armies Feora pop enough flames on her own guys, feated and splashed them onto my single wound infantry.  It generally cleaned house.  My jacks were poorly positioned and got stuck in with his right flank.  Soul Hunters were ridin

Steamroller Training: Gaspy3/Denny1

My buddy Andrew convinced some of us we should road trip out to Martinsburg WV this December to participate in a steamroller there.  As I had the day off, and since I’ve had an itch for a tournament I agreed to go. This leads to the first step of preparing for any tournament.  List building.  I’ve recently had good experiences with Gaspy3 and Denny1 was a MK2 stand by for me.  So now to practice at our Thursday night games. Let’s start with the Gaspy3 list. (Asphyxious 3) Asphyxious the Hellbringer [+24]  - Vociferon  - Kraken [36]  - Deathripper [6]  - Slayer [10]  - Cankerworm [9]  - Inflictor [13] Satyxis Raiders (max) [16]  - Satyxis Raider Sea Witch [3] Satyxis Raider Captain [4] Necrotech [2] Fuel Cache (Steamroller) [0] Previously I had used Bane Knights with a similar Gaspy3 list but found them to be a bit hit or miss.  They had trouble keeping up with the mobility jacks and generally couldn’t screen for any of my high value units.  I’ve also switch out Bara

Impressions from my first Steam Roller

I journeyed up to Legions Games on Perry Highway early Sunday to participate in the “Scream Roller” run by my friend Andrew who press gangs for both Drawbridge and Legions.  It was a new experience playing against more tournament focused players who min/max their lists.  I ended one win and two losses but it was a good learning experience. I learned several important things from this tournament.   1) Know the rules better than your opponent. 2) Some lists are better than others. 3) Know what you’re picking into. 4) Don’t play a six hour tournament on three hours of sleep. 1)Know the rules better than your opponent. So what do I mean by that?  Try to use the rules to take advantage of your opponent?  Nope.  In my first game against a beast heavy Ragnor list the game came down to an assassination run by my opponent who was rushing since he had less than two minutes on the clock.  He had managed to damage my Captain Aiakos for about six boxes when he used a Trollkin Fire-breat

WarmaHordes Battlebox Tournament and Journeyman Week One at Drawbridge Games

July has been an exciting time at Drawbridge games in Castle Shannon for our privateer press players.  With the release of Mark III we were really excited to try out the new rules and perhaps start new factions.  We’ve had a pretty consistent core group of players and we were all looking forward to starting a new league and getting some new models painted up. Since we were starting a new Journeyman and most of our core players weren’t planning on playing Cygnar I went ahead and pre-ordered the new box set as well as the models for what I would need to get to a 75 point list.  I was very excited to get my trencher army put together with my ending warcaster being Caine2. Fate decided I would be taking a different path unfortunately.  Upon receiving my new battleboxes on the 30th I was dismayed to find my Cygnar box had a mis-pack and Maddox arrived with two sword pieces and no torso.  The other hitch was that the trencher box and UA I had ordered were no shows due to lack of stock.
